Frequently Asked Questions

About the Product
What is a solar battery cover, and why do I need one?

A solar battery cover is a protective housing that shields your home battery storage system from Irish weather year-round, while giving your installation a clean, professional look. Built from durable, maintenance-free materials, it keeps rain, frost and grime off your unit protecting your investment and helping your system perform at its best for longer.

Left exposed, batteries face real wear from constant damp, temperature swings and debris a cover takes that risk off the table without a bother. Ours are made in the UK, designed with a low-profile finish that blends into any garden or side passage rather than sticking out, so you get protection and kerb appeal in one. Simple, effective, and one less thing to worry about.

What materials are used, and where are solar battery covers made?

Our solar battery covers are designed and manufactured in the UK using robust composite cladding, with an aluminium frame and lid for corrosion-resistant strength and a clean, premium finish.

This build is made to last outdoors without upkeep the aluminium won't rust or warp through a wet Irish winter, and the composite cladding resists cracking, fading and moisture damage, so there's nothing to paint or treat, ever.

Compatibility & Sizing
Are solar battery covers compatible with all battery storage systems?

Our solar battery covers are built to work with the majority of battery and inverter setups. Since installations vary in size and configuration, we offer a broad range of cover sizes use our Product Finder Tool to identify the right fit by entering your internal clearance measurements.

Each cover is engineered to house battery units, inverters, isolators, and cabling, with proper clearance, ventilation, and safe operation built in. Not sure if your system's compatible, or can't find the right size? Contact Us with photos and measurements and one of our engineers will help you find the right fit.

How do I select the right size solar battery cover?

To find the right size, measure the total height, width, and depth of your battery installation, including the battery units, inverter, isolators, and any surface-mounted cabling. Then add a clearance of 75mm to each side and 100mm to the top of those measurements, that's what our Product Finder Tool needs to suggest the most suitable cover, rounding up automatically to the nearest available size.

If your setup is non-standard or you're unsure which option to choose, feel free to Contact Us with photos and measurements and one of our engineers will be happy to help.

Will fitting a solar battery cover invalidate my battery warranty?

No. our covers are non-intrusive and won't affect your warranty. If anything, they help protect against the weather-related extremes that void more battery warranties than a cover ever would: driving rain, frost, and heat build-up. Ventilation is built in too, so there's no risk of trapped moisture or overheating just proper, warranty-safe protection.

Ventilation & Insulation
How do the covers manage temperature across different seasons?

Without insulation, the covers shield your system from rain, snow, frost, wind and UV, while keeping ventilation in place for safe year-round operation. The ventilation spacers can be adjusted seasonally to suit changing conditions.

With the optional insulation, narrowing the spacer gaps in winter helps trap a warm air pocket around the system when it's in use this can boost efficiency by approximately 10%, with a typical payback period of around 10 years. In summer, widening the spacer gaps restores full ventilation and protects against direct sunlight, so the battery keeps operating normally through the heat.

How is ventilation managed within the cover?

Ventilation is built into every cover, with adjustable spacers that let air circulate naturally around the battery and inverter preventing heat build-up while keeping the system shielded from rain, wind and other elements.

The spacer gaps can be adjusted seasonally to fine-tune airflow see "How do the covers manage temperature across different seasons?" for how that works with the optional insulation. Either way, adjusting them never restricts normal system performance.

What does the optional insulation do?

The optional insulation limits heat loss and boosts system efficiency, especially in colder weather. Working alongside the seasonally adjustable ventilation spacers, it retains the warmth produced when your battery charges and discharges, helping maintain a stable internal temperature through winter.

The result: fewer seasonal performance dips, a real efficiency improvement, and a solid long-term payback see "How do the covers manage temperature across different seasons?" for the figures. Come summer, full ventilation is restored automatically, so everyday operation isn't affected either way.

Does the insulation affect the internal dimensions of the cover?

No. The insulation is built into the frame itself, so it has no impact on the internal dimensions of the cover. Whatever size you choose based on your clearance measurements stays accurate, insulated or not.

Installation & Access
Can I install the cover myself?

Yes. the covers arrive flat-packed and go together with just a drill and screwdriver, no specialist tools or trade skills needed. They're designed for quick, straightforward on-site assembly.

Full step-by-step guidance is in our Assembly Instructions, so you'll know exactly what's involved before you start.

How are the covers fixed to the wall?

The covers are secured using bolting screws, with the cover itself hooking onto an internal mounting bracket much like hanging a picture frame. This keeps the fixings mostly out of sight while holding the cover firmly and securely in place.

Can the covers be wall-hung?

Yes, wall-hung installation is available if you need it. Just note it in the "Special Instructions" section at checkout, and we'll include the additional fixings required.

The cover then attaches to an internal mounting bracket, sitting securely against the wall while staying fully removable for servicing whenever you need access.

Can I access my system when the cover is in place?

Yes, accessing your system for servicing or maintenance is straightforward, whichever version you have. Without a lock fitted, the cover simply comes off by undoing the fixing screws. With the optional lock installed, you'll unlock it with the supplied key first, then remove it the same way.

Either way, you get full, unobstructed access to your system whenever you need it.

How does the cover handle cable runs?

Every cover comes with adjustable spacers that create a ventilation gap at the rear, giving you room to route cables cleanly out of sight. These spacers adjust up to 40mm enough for most standard cable runs and can also be fine-tuned seasonally for temperature management (see "How is ventilation managed within the cover?").

Got a larger or non-standard cable run? Extra-long spacers are available on request just get in touch with our team and we'll sort you out.

Security
Are the covers secure, and how does the optional lock work?

Yes, our covers are designed to be secure and tamper-resistant, acting as a visible deterrent against unauthorised access.

Every cover fixes to the wall using hook plates on the back of the unit, which hang over screws in the wall similar in principle to hanging a picture frame. The optional lock works alongside this: when engaged, the bolt (attached to the hook plate) sits directly below the wall screw, stopping the cover from being lifted off. Unlock it, and the cover removes as usual.

Each cover includes two locks one on each side supplied with two keys.

Trade & Commercial
Do you offer solutions for commercial or trade customers?

Yes, we work with installers, housing developers and wholesalers, offering white-label options, bulk pricing, and bespoke specifications for inverter-only or combined cover setups.
